Stretch Mark Cream – an Effective Stretch Mark Treatment
Stretch Marks appear as lines or marks and are scar-like in appearance. Most commonly associated with pregnancy, scarring can also become present as a result of weight loss, injury, surgery or acne.
Fundamentally, stretch marks – and scars – are a result of torn tissue at the superficial dermal layer. They are manifested by slightly raised lines or marks on the epidermis, often smooth in nature.
Fibroblast cells, in the subcutaneous layer of the skin, create collagen and elastic fibers to repair the torn skin. It is difficult for the fibroblasts to develop healthy tissue with normal elastin fibers with constant stretching and movement.
Stretch mark cream has become increasingly popular because it promotes healthy skin cell growth, production of collagen and improvement of elastic fibers – thus reducing tearing and promoting healing.
An active ingredient found in many products is Emu Oil. Emu Oil has been used by the Aborigines in Australia for thousands of years to treat scars, stretch marks, acne, heal burns, reduce inflammation and rashes, and has been used effectively in hair products as well to reduce dandruff and scalp psoriasis.
Emu Oil is derived from the Emu bird, a flightless cousin of the Ostrich. Though commonly raised for its tender, delicious meat, clinically derived oil from its upper-back is processed for its medicinal purposes. Clinical studies have found Emu Oil to have several important and therapeutic properties.
Emu Oil is a natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. It reduces inflamed tissue while promoting healthy skin cell development. It is rich in Oleic Acid that reduces inflammation, making it highly effective as a skin healing agent.
